Home > Oasis > Groundbreaking Ceremony for Oasis of Grace Christian Academy

Samantha Lingamfelter, program administrator for 18ten, traveled to Diriamba, Nicaragua February 25 – March 2 to represent 18ten at the Oasis of Grace Christian Academy groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, March 2. Pastor Jason Rogers, a key partner in the Oasis of Grace ministry since its beginning four years ago, led the ceremony.

After giving a brief history of the ministry, Jason honored 18ten and Lindenwald Baptist Church, without whom the school transition would not be possible. He then reminded us of the primary purpose of the ministry by reading from Matthew 18. Pointing to the children at his side, he said “This is why we are doing this ministry. For the kids. They do not have the resources to attend a private school. That is why we are doing this.” We also participated in a Nicaraguan tradition of laying the first stone, and closed the ceremony with a prayer from Pastor Ramón Zerón, the pastor who will eventually be the school’s chaplain.

Pastor Jason’s words unite all of us—18ten Ministries, Lindenwald Baptist Church, Grace of God Baptist Ministries, and you. Any measure of prayer or financial support that you have given has helped Oasis get to this point. We invite you to continue to partner with us in fervent prayer for the remaining steps and resources needed to see this dream become a reality.

Construction crews have already flattened the dirt for the foundation, and are currently building the septic tanks and main wall to separate the school property from the neighboring property.

We invite you to pray for the remaining steps in this process:

1) Construction
2) Staffing for the academy
3) Wisdom in making administrative decisions such as curriculum and class scheduling
4) Provision of funds still needed for the academy
