On behalf of Oasis de la Gracia’s staff, students, and their families, we would like to thank you for your continued support of 18ten Ministries. Every prayer and contribution that you make is invaluable to 18ten’s success and that of our partners in Central America. We give all glory to God for the way that He is using your support to bless, strengthen, and guide the ministry.
Your prayers are reflected in the grace, wisdom, and strength with which Oasis’ leadership has faced, and continues to face unexpected obstacles. Just one month after returning to full-time operations since having to suspend classes due to danger in their region, Oasis de la Gracia found themselves without running water! To immediately deal with the problem, teachers woke up early to fill buckets with enough water for the day’s activities (water at their location would only come on before 8 am and from 5 – 6 pm). After realizing this problem was not going away, Pedro quickly began to look for a new location for the ministry. Praise God, he found the perfect location in Jinotepe, which is just 9 minutes away from Oasis’ previous location, and also happens to be closer to the land on which the future Oasis School will be built.
The new location costs just $20 more monthly, but five rooms (one large, one small, an office, storage room, and kitchen) offer much more space for students and staff. Pedro noted that discipline problems have decreased greatly since the switch to the new place, and he even overheard some students saying, “I love it here! It feels great!”
To explain the transition, Oasis’ staff held meetings with students’ families. They were able to move all furniture and program materials to the new location over the course of just two days. On Tuesday, August 21st, Oasis resumed classes at their new location with regular attendance. This smooth transition gives us confidence as we look forward to another future transition into a full-time school.

Sólo un mes después de regresar a funcionamiento completo desde que tener que suspender clases debido al peligro en su region, Oasis de la Gracia les encontraron sin agua! Para ocuparse inmediatamente con el problema, algunos profesores se levantaron temprano para llevar baldes con agua para que tuvieran suficiente agua para las actividades del día (sólo había agua en su local antes de las 8 am o entre 5 – 6 pm). Después de darse cuenta de que ese problema no se iba, Pedro empezó a buscar un nuevo local para el ministerio. Gracias a Dios, él encontró al local perfecto en Jinotepe, lo cual se ubica sólo 9 minutes del local anterior de Oasis, y también resulta que está más cerca del terreno en lo cual se va a construir la escuela nueva de Oasis.
El nuevo local cobra sólo $20 más por mes, pero cinco espacios (uno grande, uno pequeño, una oficina, una bodega, y una cocina) ofrecen mucho más espacio para estudiantes y el personal. Pedro notó que los problemas de disciplina han disminuido mucho desde el cambio de lugar, y aún escuchó a algunos estudiantes diciendo, “¡Me encanta este lugar! ¡Me siento bien aquí!”
Para explica la transición, el personal de Oasis se reunieron con las familias de los estudiantes. Ellos podían mudar todo los muebles y los materiales de los programas al nuevo local dentro de sólo dos días. El martes 21 de agosto, Oasis resumió clases en su nuevo local con asistencia normal. Esta transición tranquila nos da confianza cuando pensamos en la transición futura del programa hacia el nuevo colegio.
